06 Steps to Wrap Rims or Wheels
Step 01: Clean Your Rims With Degreaser
The area where the vinyl is installed should be thoroughly clean and dry for the wrap to hold properly. Soak a soft cloth in water solution and a soft cleanser and apply rims to remove dirt and oil. If there are stubborn spots, use alcohol to clean their face. Using a degreaser, clean your rims and wheels (unless you have already removed the rim). Be sure to do this several times with a lint-free towel.
Step 02: Use Alcohol To Remove Degreaser
Use Isopropyl Alcohol to remove any degreaser particles before trying to apply vinyl. Wash thoroughly, then wipe dry.
Step 03: Measure and use Vinyl
After measuring the sheet you need to cover the width of the rim (and give it a 4″ margin), peel off the film, and lay over the wheel and rim. Now place the wrap on the rim, then use your fingers to move it back into place.
Step 04: Add Heat to Rims
Next, apply some heat as you press the vinyl into the area with a squeegee or flat edge. Start from the center and work your way out, using the middle pressure. Push any bumps on the edges of the rim until they are removed. Using a heat gun, press the film to the rim as you apply heat from a range of 12 “moving back and forth.
Step 05: Trim with an Exacto Blade
Without the rim, use a squeegee to press the film into a bevel before cutting. Once you have your folding where you want it, press the edge down into the cracks. Use scissors to cut out any excess wrap. Once the vinyl has been applied to the edge, use an Exacto or Olfa-style razor to cut excess.
Step 06: Post Heat to Rims
Apply heat to your wrap to help the film heal and remove any blisters. Now, go back and enjoy the look of your new rim work. For more information, tips, and guidelines on how to use the vinyl wrap on wheels, watch the video.

Difference Between Rim vs Wheel
Many people use the terms wheel and rhyme interchangeably, but both are not the same. In fact, the rim is one of several components that make up a tire. It is on the outer edge of the wheel where the tire resides. It does not include spokes or a central wheel disc, which also forms part of the wheel. The term rim is often used to refer to market or decorative rear wheels, such as aluminum alloy wheels.
What is a Rim?
The rim is the outer edge of the wheel. It holds the wheel in place and usually stops U, deeper in the middle than at the edges, as this supports the wheel beads. The rim is usually made of the same metal or alloy as the rest of the wheel, although an extra layer of Teflon may be added to provide extra protection.
What is a Wheel?
A wheel is a whole piece of metal that holds a tire. The word “wheel” is often used to describe the whole organization, including the wheel, but this is not always the case.
The wheel consists of several parts. The central disc, or harp, replaces the speakers used in the earlier wheels. The hub attaches the wheel to the axle of the car and is connected by lug nuts.
The rim is always around the harp and holds the wheel. In the case of steel wheels, the rim is usually a single rectangular piece of metal that is bent and bent to fit close to the hub. The size of the rim determines the size of the tire that can be fitted to your car, although some tires have larger or smaller tires than the rim.
